Attorney Andrea Hayduk Reveals How She's Coping with COVID-19

Attorney Andrea Hayduk was featured in “The COVID Issue” of For The Defense, which is the attorney-run newsletter of the Tennesse Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (TACDL). In the section titled, “How We’re Coping With COVID-19,” she details how the coronavirus pandemic has upended her life since courts will be limited at least until May 31 and jury trials won’t occur until at least July 3.

Andrea explains that her biggest challenge was getting used to not managing multiple cases, not meeting with clients, and not fighting for them in court. Although she believes attorneys thrive in the middle of chaos, this new type of chaos spawned by COVID-19 has forced them to pause their work and lifeline.

Fortunately, Attorney Hayduk has immersed herself in this “new” normal these past few months by conducting work and helping her clients through Zoom meetings and over the phone, getting plenty of sleep, and spending valuable time with her family. She also can’t get enough quarantine memes.

Andrea said, “Surrendering to the chaos has been difficult and it took a minute to settle in but it has had some rewards. We may never have another forced pause like this again.”

TACDL is a nonprofit organization formed and chartered in 1973. Membership is available to members of the Bar of the State of Tennessee who practice state and federal criminal defense.

Andrea is an active member of TACDL and the National College of DUI Defense (NCDD). In addition, she is a board member of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association (DUIDLA).
