Hamilton County explains that its General Sessions Criminal Division enters judgments in misdemeanor and traffic cases and conducts preliminary hearings in felony matters to determine whether there is sufficient cause to bind the case over to the grand jury.
That distinction is important: unlike East Ridge, Soddy-Daisy, Signal Mountain, or Collegedale, there is no separate Hixson municipal court to assume will handle the case.
